About Merthyr College

 

Merthyr Tydfil College is an institution working within the field of Education which is situated in Merthyr Tydfil Town.  The Welsh Assembly Government funds the college which provides it with a wide range of courses for people aged over 16 and above.

 

 

Merthyr Tydfil College was given a new make-over and was demolished to make way for a brand new building which was opened in 2013, the building is only 3 years old and has been shortlisted for the TES FE Awards ‘College of the Year 2016’ for its outstanding academic success rates.  The college is much larger compared to the old building allowing room for more students, but it is also better equipped with state of the art facilities in any given subject the college provides, catering for a wider range of education and physical needs.

 

 

The college provides a service that is directed to students that are already studying in the establishment and also to future possible applicants. The college aims to help students achieve a qualification that will help towards their future career path, and also provides a vast range of opportunities within the field of work they desire after studying and also helps students who want to go into further education.

 

 

I will be doing my volunteer work within the Art Department of Merthyr Tydfil College on the fourth floor, I am already very well known to the department as I am the Course Rep for Foundation Art Practice.  I am very motivated to work with a variety of students in the Art Department, as it will be an insight into what it would be like to work in Education as I would like to progress on to a PGCE Post-Graduate course, after attaining my Art Practice BA hons.
